"Many conservation organizations fund and do projects with the help of volunteers, but it can be quite challenging to find people who are a good match for their projects. At Life Net Nature we spend a great deal of time vetting and communicating with prospective volunteers, and that is time not writing grants, doing fieldwork, or communicating conservation research findings. There is a need for a match-making site, like that offered by Nova Conservation that helps both organizations and volunteers find each other more efficiently, and makes efforts for quality control leading to ethical and high quality volunteer experiences."

"On my Nova Conservation trip to Costa Rica, I learned so much about tropical diversity- both flora AND fauna. Taking this trip actually helped me in some of my biology and zoology classes down the road, where I was able to recognize certain species and relate to material. I feel that I learned more during this trip than I would in a classroom setting because of the immersion and the opportunities made available to me. "I can personally attest to the power of volunteer opportunities abroad. In 2017 I decided to volunteer with Fauna Forever in the Peruvian Amazon. Upon completion of this experience I was offered the position of Field Research Coordinator with this organization and have been coordinating avian, bat and herpetofauna research for the past two years. "I went with Laura Marsh, founder of Nova Conservation, on one of the first Nova Conservation trips ever to Costa Rica in 2017. I was trying to decide my major and had taken an environmental science course with Professor Marsh and decided to tag along on the trip and it was the best decision I ever made. This tripped pulled me into what I was seeing and learning about and got me excited to change my major when I got home! I had been to Costa Rica once before on a normal family vacation and it was fun and all, but what I saw on this Nova trip was amazing. We got to see tarantulas, pit vipers, sloths, and even UV-reactive scorpions in their natural habitat. I’ve since been able to tell friends and family a ton about the cool local animals and my favorite plants I saw on our tropical trip by name! I think my experience with Nova Conservation really changed my view of what traveling should be like and I plan on going on as many trips with them as I can in the future."
